Mission Statement
The Domestic Carnivore Raw Dog and Cat Rescue is a no-kill, non-profit animal sanctuary that saves dogs and cats, rehabilitates and finds qualified homes for orphaned or abused small to medium sized dogs and cats otherwise awaiting an uncertain future at shelters. The animals that can not be adopted out for various medical or behavioral reasons will either stay with us to graciously and peacefully live out there remaining time or will be placed as permanent fosters still owned and paid for by donations received  for The Domestic Carnivore.

We are also taking dogs from breed specific rescues to give additional attention to difficult to treat medical or behavioral cases. Another part of our service to the community is educating the public on responsible ownership and treatment of our domestic carnivores, our dogs and cats.

The Domestic Carnivore: Raw Dog & Cat Rescue existed well before its name did. It originally started out as a passion for animals in need and quickly developed into something way bigger then anybody could have forseen.
Our goal from the beginning was to attend to individual animals that were in need of help. Some animals needed help beyond just basics like housing, food and water.
Most of our animals came to us with severe medical conditions like Seizures, Diabetes, chronic ear-infections, severe vaccine reactions/ autoimmune deficiencies and behavioral issues like severe fear dominance, fear of specific situations like grooming and basic walking on a leash or long-term medical conditions like hipdisplasya.

Our Vision for the future is…….
To work closer with Breed Specific Rescues, so we can be used not just as foster, but also as rehabilitation centre with full funding to take the burden off the rescues who are mainly just the first instance that is being contacted by Humane Societies or Rescue groups so they can take in the specific breeds that they are working with. The Domestic Carnivore has all the resources to work on specific issues, be it medical or behavioral to guarantee a successful re-homing. In cases where re-homing is not an option the animal will be allowed to live out its life in peace and with dignity at either our facility or at  a qualified foster home with one of our volunteers!

The other part of our Vision includes the education of the public (from young to old) in regards to responsible and species appropriate treatment of dogs and cats in our society.

We are already part of a Volunteer based Therapy dog visitation program for hospitals and Nursing/Retirement homes and hope to use our experience and training to also include children of various ages and their parents in a program that will educate them about responsible ownership and what the basics beside shelter, food and water are. (Exercise- Discipline-Affection; Grooming; Vet-care; Species Appropriate Nutrition!)

We are working hard to turn all our visions into reality!!!! There is still lots to do for us here at The Domestic Carnivore.
But to be successful in all areas we need your help. The Domestic Carnivore so far is only a 2 man operation (husband and wife team, Robert and Sophie Hausner) and is in desperate need of funding and donations from the public as well as volunteers.

Over the past 6 years we have entirely relied on our own finances and put all our time and knowledge into the Rescue. Even with extensive training in various areas like grooming, first aid, nutrition, obedience, canine behavior, agility, therapy, flyball…we have now reached a point where in order to continue our work we need to ask for outside help.
So far we at have been the ones lending a helping hand to others in need, now it is our turn to receive! ;-)
So please go to our DONATIONS Page and lend us a helping hand either with a money donation or by donating items mentioned on our WISHLIST.
Thank you for your interest in The Domestic Carnivore – Raw Rescue for Dogs and Cats
